New Music

So over the last few weeks, I have been purging my music collection. i sold all my used cds back to graywhale and have been ordering obscure albums to replenish my supply. One album in particular has stood out and simply amazed me. I have been listening to SamAmidon's all is well album nonstop. you may have noticed that the song on my blog is one of his earlier pieces, sons of levi. I am simply enveloped by the old folk songs reinterpreted. I need rest right now and i think i am finding peace in these old songs. i also have been listening to solitary man.

Hot Pot Advnture

Last night I went with some friends to the hot pots down in diamond fork canyon. It was quite and adventure; certainly more exciting than the usual night at the library. We made hobo dinners and then hiked up to the springs where we cooked them on the side of the pools. I am exhausted today and still smell of smoke and sulfur, but it was a fun time. And I think one of the creepers in the corner was naked, so that adds to the whole experience...

Olafur Eliasson

Black Friday Sale

So we are having a sale at Mode the day after thanksgiving modeled after a painting by the Russian artist Kazimir Malevich. I had heard of him but not seen his works until today. The piece we are using to promote the sale is The Black Square. I really like it, so I thought i would post it here for any who are interested.

Again its been a while...

I am not sure why I continue to post on this blog. I do not share it with others, so I feel no need to keep anyone current or to reveal anything about myself. I think I find it therapeutic to write down my feelings for the day.

I recently discovered a new favorite publication I cannot live without. I borrowed a copy of this months Dwell magazine and am simply loving it. I have always wanted to find a small avant-garde residence and this magazine has opened my eyes to how many people share my passion. There are some really cool homes; especially small reinterpretations of the shed. fun.

i also am feeling this intense desire to get outdoors and take in fall. I want to camp out and hunt. I'm not really a hunter but I have this yearning to ensconce myself in flannel and take to the woods. Strange I know but I am feeling trapped by school and want to relax.

I am falling asleep at the computer, so I think I will finish this post later.

New Start...

So, with the new semester starting soon, I thought I would take a minute to update my blog and list a few things that are happening right now.

The biggest change in my life right now has been the change of scenery. I moved into a small house down town and have really been enjoying it. It was a train wreck when Tanner, Gage, and I found it, but its has come a long way. We spent the better part of a week fixing it up; painting, scrubbing and repairing minor problems. It really was a fun project though. It feels good to have accomplished something significant. I will have to post some pictures of the newly revamped place.

I am also trying to fix up an old road bike. I have wanted to build a Fixie for some time now, just lacked the money and know-how to do so. My neighbor seems to know quite a bit and has an old frame I think he wants to unload. We'll see if I can get up the cash.

Well, that pretty much sums up my adventures of late. Still going on dates. Still looking. Next time I'll post pictures.

It's been a while since I posted anything on here, so I thought I would update a few things...

I started a new job about a month ago. I am working at this little boutique down town called Mode. So far I have enjoyed it a lot. It has nice to have so much contact with local artists; I feel i am getting more and more inspired to get back and do some work of my own.

I also bought a bike! It's an old cannondale touring bike with pinneal rack and all. It was cheap, and not the fixie I was hoping for, but a real deal and it gets me to work and back. Gas has just gotten too expensive to drive the audi around anymore.

Last of all I guess is the fact that I am taking a CNA certification class at nights now. It has been interesting, but slow. I am just hoping to finish up soon and find a good job in the hospital here in town. I have to find a way to afford provo life for a little while longer.

Dating is still as confusing as ever. Not that I am not having fun, just waiting still for someone who understands me. Someone to sit next to...

Do you climb?

Well, my climbing partner is hurt again; note I said again. Tanner can't seem to stay healthy, so once again I am on my own at the gym. Teag is starting to de better, but he and Sarah are down in Zions doing some slot canyon exploring, so I can only hope he stays out of trouble. I can hear American Fork calling us now that it is warming up. I could really use a good camping/climbing trip. Maybe I will meet a nice climbing girl and kill 2 rabbits with 1 stick.

In need of a new team

The Suns lost again this week. I am not giving up on them, but after 3 years of losses in the playoffs, I need a break from the dissapointment. BYU lost in March Madness, Ohio State lost in football last year, and I am only glad that BYU pulled of that great win over UCLA. I need more of that. I am watching the Hornets vs. Spurrs game right now, and I have decided to adopt Chris Paul for the rest of the post season. Just want to see Tony Parker shamed... No more San Antonio.

New Job...

Well, I finally found some part time work for the summer. I have bugging Ryan down at Mode for some time to give me a chance and bring me on part time. He finally gave in this week because he needed someone to help out during Gallery Stroll. Friday was my first day, and it was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed helping the few customers we had, and the down time spent listening to new music or reading up on the lines we carry was fun. Pretty chill setup. I hope I am able to contribute something to the store; it looks like we are going to start carrying a couple new designers I know a bit about, so maybe I am more useful than I think. Listen to music, sell nice clothes, hang out with the other artsy employees and talk about film or music. I could get used to this kind of job...
